OVERVIEW
PROJECT BRIEF
Wordiest is a daily vocabulary building application designed with a focus on personalization, relevance, context, and engagement that provides tailored learning experience for its users.
⚡PROBLEM
Current daily vocabulary building apps often fail to deliver a personalized experience. Generic words lists, lack of context, irrelevance to users' interests, and difficulty levels contribute to this problem. Users struggle to remember and use the words they learn, leading to frustration and the "use it or lose it" phenomenon.
💡GOALS
Wordiest aims to revolutionize vocabulary learning by offering a highly personalized, context-rich, and consistently challenging experience that fosters lasting knowledge.
- Interest-based learning - Users pick topics they care about (hobbies, profession, etc.).
- Difficulty customization - Users select their proficiency level
- Contextual learning - Definitions are accompanied by examples for deeper understanding

DISCOVERY
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
It all started with a simple question: "Could we do this better, smarter, more delightfully?" that led me to take a close look at 3 competitor apps and websites. I analyzed their features, strengths and weaknesses to see what they do well and where they could improve. I wanted to figure out what we could do differently to make learning new words more enjoyable and effective.
USER RESEARCH
Wordiest targets language learners of all backgrounds who want to improve their vocabulary whether their aim is professional or personal improvement. Here we have Sara, one of Wordiest users.
USER STORIES
I began with online research to understand user motivations, preferred learning methods, and the obstacles they face. They all say sorts of things – like using flashcards, reading books, or even chatting with friends. But here is the thing that everyone agreed: learning vocabulary should be effortless and integrate seamlessly into their daily routines. Then, it became clear that the key was personalization - words that are ready to be used in the daily conversations.
USER FLOW
User's first stop is the personalized dashboard, where they can discover the word of the day that fit with their interests and skill level. It is a simple user flow that explain the usage of Wordiest without showing in-detail.
SOLUTIONS
WIREFRAMES
Wireframes were a discovery tool for me. I would start with a core concept, like "word of the day" and onboarding process, and sketch out different ways to present it. Each wireframe helped me to explore some of Wordiest's unique features.

DESIGN CHOICES
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Wordiest started with a simple desire to make vocabulary building more fun and effective, away from frustration (perhaps personal frustration) of generic word lists, and impersonal app. Users can customize content based on their interests and skill levels, providing a customized learning journey that encourages engagement. Throughout the design process of Wordiest, my focus was a lively and intuitive interface that encourages learning. Early user research confirmed the importance of personalization and highlighted how it combats boredom and increases information retention. It even lets you roll the dice to find new words! I look forward to further iterations of Wordiest with user feedback and design best practices.
ONBOARDING FLOW
Wordiest cares about users' hobbies and interests, whether it's cooking, science, travel, or anything else they're passionate about. It tailors the words users will learn to these interests. Understanding that everyone learns differently, Wordiest allows you to choose your starting difficulty level, ensuring you feel confident as you progress.
MAIN PAGES
Wordiest doesn't give users the dry definitions like in other apps. Instead, it brings words to life with engaging examples that show how they're used in everyday conversations. If user already know the "Word of the Day," easily can swap it out for a fresh word. Wordiest is dedicated to helping you learn at least one new word every day no matter what. The playful "roll the dice" feature encourages discovery, while saved word lists, streaks, and quizzes reinforce your learning and provide a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
OTHER FEATURES
Wordiest charges the language learning with engaging gamifiied elements. The users can earn points for completing bite-sized quizzes, maintain a daily streak and unlock rewards to stay motivated. Also, Wordiest widget feature offers quick access to learning content directly from the home screen, making language practice a seamless part of user's day.
