OVERVIEW

PROJECT BRIEF

ItsCamper connects expert camper builders with potential clients across Spain. It allows builders to showcase their work with personalized business pages that highlight their expertise, past projects, and contact information. While builders expand their online visibility, clients can search them based on their specialty and location and make decisions easily.

โšกPROBLEM

Finding the perfect builder is frustrating for potential caravan owners, if there is no central hub to view all available builders (Like ItsCamper). They were stuck sending the same messages over and over, hopping from one old-fashioned camper builder website to another, feeling lost in the process.

๐Ÿ’กGOALS

A one-stop platform that facilitates the entire camper builder search. So, users could easily explore builders, ask for budgets, and get a quick idea about campers while camper builders could improve their online presence.

  • Make finding the camper builder faster, and save time on decision-making.
  • Solve the inconvenience of sending lots of emails.
  • Provide a place for builders to showcase their work and attract new customers.

๐Ÿ’ซ MY ROLE
I took the lead on shaping the overall user experience including research, visual design, and usability testing. Working closely with developers, I made sure the integration of design elements, balancing the functionality and aesthetics across the entire platform.

โ€œTo find the right camper builder, I felt like I had to rely on my luck. I reached out to many builders through emails and calls and it got tricky because I had to check a lot of things to make a decision โ€“ checking out company websites, looking at their projects, scrolling through Instagrams, pricesโ€ฆโ€

DISCOVERY

EXPLORING THE MARKET

I started by analyzing the digital landscape with competitive analysis and internet user research. There were not any direct competitors, but two websites caught my eye.
  • Competitor 1: The website is built on Wordpress, and it didn't have search options, It primarily presents business names, and that's it.
  • Competitor 2: The second website is specifically focused on the U.S. market, so it wouldn't be a direct competitor for us. However, it gave us some good ideas for different ways to approach the project.
INTERVIEWS
I conducted 5 interviews with caravan owners to understand what they were looking for and how they searched for things. These interviews were very helpful for me in learning about their needs and challenges.

What I was curious about? (some of the questions)

  • When you decided to look for a camper builder, how did you start?

  • What mattered most when choosing a builder?

  • Can you tell me about a time you got frustrated during your search?

  • If you could do your search again, what would you change?

  • What ultimately made you pick a specific builder?

What I found?

  • Initial contact โžœ E-mail is the most common way to reach out, though some use website contact forms.

  • Choosing a Builder โžœ Reputation, reviews, project quality (visual examples) and budget compatibility are key decision factors.

  • Search frustations โžœ Delayed responses, and difficulty comparing quotes/builders were major pain points.

  • What they would do differently โžœ is they'd prioritize recommendations from trusted sources and communities.
โ€œI want my campervan to be outstanding, so one of the most important things for me is seeing the quality of their work, the images and naturally the prices have a big influence on my decision making process.โ€

USER RESEARCH

MEET WITH USER

To see the possible pain points, I created two personas as ItsCamper targets both camper builders offering services and need an online presence, along with clients seeking builders/information to build their caravan.

DEFINE

MAPPING THE USER JOURNEY

I prepared two different user flows as well (for camper builders and potential clients) . Crafting user flows and user journey helped me create wireframes and early versions of the ItsCamper. I had to be sure it would work well for everyone.

WIREFRAMES & PROTOTYPING

To bring ItsCamper to life, I sketched out ideas rapidly in Miro and then transferred them to Figma, along with the interactive prototypes. This allowed us to test the design and discuss them before development began. So, these wireframes and prototypes saved us time!

DESIGN

BRAND DESIGN

Taking inspiration from nature's colors, weโ€™ve designed a brand identity for ItsCamper, including colors, fonts, and images. Also, I did some simple vector images for business marketing page in Adobe Illustrator to improve my skills and I think, it turned out well.

โœจ TAKEAWAYS

๐Ÿช„ ItsCamper holds a special place in my journey as it was my first major project in product design. It taught me a lot! The biggest challenge was definitely managing a project of this size, and I really enjoyed it. We wanted to create a platform where camper builders and clients could easily connect. To achieve this, I had to step outside my comfort zone and spend a lot of time talking about the project.

๐Ÿ”‘ This project helped me to learn more about user-centered design, creating designs based on what users want and need. Of course mistakes happen, but every of them was different learning points. Active communication is the key for success.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Looking ahead, The future of ItsCamper involves expanding beyond its current capabilities, so it should definitely include constant iteration, based on user feedback. ItsCamper is keep evolving, aiming to be the go-to platform for anyone entering the world of campers. I can't wait to see how it keeps getting better!
